The eight questions for Human Resources

The guided builder asks these, in this order, and turns each answer into a line on the page. Nothing is written that you did not type.

  1. 1.How many employees do you support?
  2. 2.How many positions have you closed in a year, and at what levels?
  3. 3.What is your time to fill, and has it improved?
  4. 4.What is your attrition rate, and what have you done to it?
  5. 5.Which HR systems do you work in?
  6. 6.Which specialism do you actually run day to day?
  7. 7.How many locations or business units do you cover?
  8. 8.What programme have you designed and rolled out, and to how many people?

Words are the easy half

A resume can carry every term above and still be rejected, because coverage says what you know and nothing about what you delivered. The heaviest category on the rubric is evidence: how many of your bullets carry an actual figure.

Seven in ten is full marks. Most resumes we see manage two.
